Klasmann-Deilmann is the leading corporate group in the international substrate industry, with numerous sales and production companies in Europe, Asia and America. All over the world, our growing media provide a vital basis for plant growth, and for the success of our partners and customers who are active in the commercial-horticulture sector. Our most important raw materials include white and black peat that we extract from our own sites, as well as wood fibre and green-waste compost that is produced and processed in our own facilities.
We are currently developing a wide range of activities in the field of renewable energy and resources. In so doing, we are placing our confidence in the expertise we have acquired over many decades in managing land on a large scale and in utilising biomass, and we are exploiting synergies between these different operations.
With a global headcount of more than 900, we achieved consolidated turnover of EUR 161 million in 2013. Our production totalled 3.4 million m³ of growing media, potting soils, green-waste compost, wood fibre, and biomass from short-rotation forestry plantations.
Our goal is sustainable growth and lasting success in all of the company's activities. In this, our employees are a foundational asset, playing a crucial role in moving our organisation forward as we help them to excel.
Our guiding principles – based on our certification to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards – challenge us, on a daily basis, to take responsibility for people, the environment and subsequent generations. We have an environmental-protection programme including re-waterlogging and the transformation of several thousand hectares of former peat extraction areas back into a typical bog landscape.
